What is Fetan SMS?
Fetan SMS is an Android app for Ethiopian businesses that turns the deposit SMS your bank already sends into an instant Telegram alert for your team. It reads the incoming message on your phone, confirms the sender is one of 12 supported Ethiopian banks or wallets, works out which of your branches the account belongs to, and posts a clean alert — bank, amount, masked account and branch name — into the Telegram chats you have chosen. Nothing is typed in by hand and no SMS is ever sent from your phone.
Which Ethiopian banks and wallets does Fetan SMS support?
Twelve: Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), Awash Bank, Dashen Bank, Bank of Abyssinia, Telebirr, Siinqee Bank, Berhan Bank, Bunna Bank, Cooperative Bank of Oromia (COOP/CBO), Hibret Bank, Wegagen Bank and Zemen Bank. Messages from any other sender are ignored on the device and never leave your phone.
How does Fetan SMS know an alert is really from the bank?
It identifies a bank by the official SMS sender ID only — never by text inside the message. Someone who types a bank's name into an ordinary SMS cannot make a fake deposit appear, because the message did not arrive from that bank's registered sender. Only credit (money-in) notices from a verified sender produce an alert.
What do I need to start using Fetan SMS?
An Android phone running 7.0 or later with the SIM that receives your bank's SMS, a Telegram account for you and anyone who should get alerts, and a bank account at one of the 12 supported banks or wallets. The app is available in English, Amharic (አማርኛ) and Afaan Oromoo. There is nothing to install on your staff's phones — they only need Telegram.
How much does Fetan SMS cost?
Every account starts with a 15-day free trial, one per device, with no card and no payment details required. After that you choose a monthly, three-month or six-month plan, with a lower effective rate on the longer terms. Current prices in ETB are shown inside the app when you pick a plan, and payment is by local Ethiopian bank transfer — we never ask for card numbers, PINs or banking passwords.
