Fetan SMS

Your bank sends you an SMS every time money arrives. Fetan SMS reads that message on your phone, checks it really came from the bank, and delivers a clean deposit alert to the staff who need it — on Telegram, in seconds.

15-day free trial · one trial per device · no card details, ever

Why it exists

The phone that receives the money is not the person who needs to know.

In most Ethiopian businesses the bank SMS lands on one phone — usually the owner's. Staff wait for a screenshot. Deliveries stall. Payments get confirmed twice, or not at all. Fetan SMS closes that gap automatically.

Seconds, not minutes

The alert is parsed on the phone the instant the SMS arrives and pushed straight to your team's chat.

Harder to fake

A bank is recognised only by its official SMS sender ID. A message that merely mentions a bank's name is ignored.

Right team, right branch

Several accounts or shops? Each one can be named and routed to its own Telegram chat, so nobody sifts through other branches' money.

Coverage

12 Ethiopian banks and wallets

Identification is by SMS sender ID only. This is deliberate: it is the single check a fraudster cannot pass by writing a convincing message.

CBE Awash Bank Dashen Bank Bank of Abyssinia Telebirr Siinqee Bank Berhan Bank Bunna Bank COOP (CBO) Hibret Bank Wegagen Bank Zemen Bank

Messages from any other sender are ignored. They are not parsed, not stored on our servers, and never forwarded. Only credit — money-in — messages from the list above produce an alert.

Features

What you get

Automatic deposit parsing

Amount, bank, masked account, sender and reference are extracted from the SMS on the device — including multi-part messages your phone receives in pieces.

Telegram delivery

Connect your chat in one tap and invite staff to theirs. Alerts go to people, not to a phone number — and cost nothing to send.

Branch & account routing

Give each account or shop a name and match it by the masked digits in its SMS. That name rides along in every alert, and only the chats you tick receive it.

Transactions & reports

Every parsed deposit is kept in the app with its delivery status. Filter the history and export a report when you need the numbers.

Rules and thresholds

Turn forwarding off for a particular bank, or set an amount ceiling above which an alert stays on your phone only.

Never silently fails

If an alert cannot be delivered, the app tells you and retries automatically — a missed deposit is worse than a late one.

Offline-first

No signal? The deposit is still parsed and saved, and delivery is retried the moment the network comes back. The app does not lock you out for being offline.

Runs in the background

A dedicated background service keeps forwarding alive when the app is closed and after the phone restarts.

Three languages

The whole app — screens, alerts and help — in English, አማርኛ and Afaan Oromoo. Switch any time in settings.

Privacy by design

What Fetan SMS deliberately does not do

These are not promises in a policy document — they are constraints built into the app. You can verify most of them from the permission list on Google Play.

It never sends SMS from your phone

The app holds no SMS-sending permission at all. Alerts travel over Telegram, so there are no message charges and nothing is ever sent in your name.

It never reads your contacts

No contacts permission is requested. Staff are invited through a Telegram link, not picked from your address book.

It never touches your photo library

When you upload a payment receipt, Android's own photo picker hands over that one image. The app has no storage or gallery permission.

It ignores everything that is not a bank deposit

Personal messages, OTPs, adverts and debit notices are not parsed, not uploaded and not forwarded.

Subscription is paid by local Ethiopian bank transfer only. You pay at the bank or through your bank's own channels, then upload a screenshot of the transfer in the app for verification. Fetan SMS does not process payments and never asks for card numbers, CVVs, PINs or online-banking credentials. There is no in-app purchase.

Current prices in ETB are shown inside the app when you choose a plan, so they always match what our team has published.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does Fetan SMS read all of my messages?

The app can see incoming SMS, because Android has no way to show it only bank messages. But it acts only on messages whose sender ID belongs to one of the 12 supported banks and wallets, and only on credit (money-in) notices. Everything else is ignored on the device and never uploaded.

Will my staff receive SMS on their phones?

No. Alerts are delivered through our official Telegram bot. The app holds no permission to send SMS, so there are no per-message charges and nothing is ever sent from your number.

What happens if my phone has no internet?

The deposit is still parsed and saved on the device. Delivery is retried automatically when the connection returns, and you are notified if something could not be sent.

I have several shops and bank accounts. Can each team see only its own?

Yes. That is what branch routing is for: name each account or branch, match it by the masked digits that appear in its SMS, and tick the Telegram chats allowed to receive it. Only those chats get that branch's alerts.

How do I pay, and do you take my card?

You pay by local Ethiopian bank transfer only, at the bank or through your bank's channels, then upload the transfer screenshot in the app. We never ask for card numbers, PINs or banking passwords, and there is no in-app purchase.

I am changing to a new phone. What happens?

Your account is tied to one device to prevent shared subscriptions. Start the app on the new phone and a transfer request is created for our team to approve.

My bank is not on the list.

Then its messages are ignored for now. Tell us which bank you use and send us an example of the SMS — adding a bank is mostly a matter of confirming its official sender ID and message format.
